We (the National Inhalant Prevention Coalition) established the campaign and this is the 16th of NIPAW. Several list members joined the campaign and received local coordinator's kits. I would be interested in any activities you conducted and media coverage you received.

We had a kickoff news conference at DC's National Press Club and ONDCP Director Walters was one of the speakers.

Steve Pasierb, Partnership for a Drug-Free America President & CEO, released a new inhalant report based on their latest PATS Survey. If anyone would like a copy, let me know.

Dr. Westley Clark, CSAT Director, released two new SAMHSA inhalant reports which are cited below:

If anyone is interested, we have a model inhalant Bill in anyone is interested in inhalant legislative advocacy in your state.

For those participating in the NIPAW campaign - thanks, you're making a difference.

Shapiro, Kenneth submitted the following message from Kenneth_Shapiro@ondcp.eop.gov

Dear Community Prevention Professionals,

While overall drug use among young people has declined 24 percent since 2001, inhalants abuse remains a dangerous and potentially deadly behavior.

National Inhalants & Poisons Awareness Week (March 16-23) highlights the importance of educating parents to substance abuse threats hidden in plain sight: everyday household products such as glue or shoe polish. When used properly, these products add value to our lives, however when abused, they have serious and damaging effects on the futures of our youth.
